OUT and ABOUT Drawing walk hosted by Penarth Lens Friends.

Sat 18 April 10:00AM - 12:00PM

Turner House Gallery (map)

Explore different approaches to drawing on the move, in conversation and paying close attention to encounters with people and place.

“I am for art from a pocket, from deep channels of the ear…” Opening of Claes Oldenburg’s 1961 manifesto.

Join the Lens Friends group for a relaxed, exploratory drawing session focused on capturing moments as they happen—on the move, in conversation, and through encounters with people and place.

Meet by The Turner House gallery in Penarth, before setting off on a gentle sketchbook trail through the park, finishing at the Penarth Pier Pavilion and the beach.

I will bring a few sketchbooks and recent observations of performers and will recommend some further reading.

What to bring:

A camera (a phone is absolutely fine)

A notebook and pen (we’ll use them alongside photography)

Meeting spot:

Main entrance of The Turner House Gallery

I will also bring a selection of tools for you to try. If you’d like, bring along any travelling sketchbooks that work for you—whether empty, half-full, or well-used. An empty page is always a great place to start.

Free event, donations welcome. Book here
